It’s Saturday night and feels like summer. The decision is easy, dinner on the patio at STK, one of our favorites for a romantic dinner out with fine dinning.
The excitement and curiosity played in my head most of the day being a different year with pandemic and not knowing what the layout of the outdoor dinning experience would be.
We arrive!! Feeling confident when I spotted their beautiful floral signature sign display and attractive hostesses to greet us.
We start to make our way to our table and the visions I had of a romantic dinner with my hubby started crumbling. The noise and echoing that bounced off the grey bland walls and ordinary décor that led into a shopping mall was very disappointing.
No, this can’t be happening!!!
How can we turn this night around? Let’s get an order in of food and wine and things will be just fine.
The food didn’t disappoint us and was consistent to previous dinning experiences. The Chilean seabass was heavenly as was our bottle of California Cannonball.
Looking forward to returning to indoor dinning at STK!!

I feel sorry for the restaurant industry and all that they
have to endure through Covid. Tonight, we are at STK – well a pop up of STK.
Personally, I don’t understand it…they have this beautiful restaurant on the 2
floor and 3 very large windows if you open them up it must equal the size of
the opening of the mall entrance where this pop up is situated.
I understand
the effort to continue, but this space does nothing for their brand, the audio
in this space is just ricocheting all over. There is little colour and it doesn’t
feel much like Yorkville.
The food at the pop up STK is a limited menu understandably, the STK
Sandwich was very good but my chips are so salty they are uneatable. The waitress to her credit comps us a couple of glasses of
Canonball – I’ll take that deal anytime!
They tried extremely hard in a non-win situation. I’ll be
back once we are back inside STK, a terrific space with an amazing atmosphere and
food.
