Rogues

Rogues, Mississauga

1900 Dundas St W, Mississauga, ON L5K 1P9

A special place and where we dined on our first date! Friendly staff then and friendly staff now! The upscale classic and crisp décor with an open concept kitchen and spacious dinning area gives off that enjoyable atmosphere that we have always enjoyed over the years.

Don’t see something on the menu the way you like it? No problem, just let them know and they are ready to accommodate.

Risotto was my immediate choice but wait, not with the duck confit!!! Didn’t sweat it and my dish was served with some nice jumbo shrimps instead. Tasty!!!

Until next time as always 😜

Apparently, Rogues has changed hands, we didn’t know this but it seems to have happened just prior to Covid. That is a tough start for anyone.

Rogues is a special place for us and has always been exceptional, we always feel welcomed and made to feel important.

Tonight, we were trying to find a restaurant in the Etobicoke area but every thing just seemed to be packed, as in-dining had once again returned. When we were told our wait times were going to be an hour or more, we reach back to one of our favourites, Rogues.

If I didn’t know about the change, I don’t know that I would have noticed.

During the take-out only of Covid we ordered from here twice and both times the food was hot and delicious. We were met each time at the back door for curbside pick up by very friendly staff member.

For Rogues, I must admit, it was pretty quiet, about 8 tables we’re on the go but looking around the room everyone was enjoying themselves. Not much if anything has changed from a décor stand point but tables were very spread a part, hence social distancing. For myself, I was happy to see no plastic partitions taking away from the wonderful décor.

Our waiter tonight was very good, made us feel welcomed and gave us a good run down of the menu and helped nicely in finding us a wine to enjoy. He offered us a coupe of tasters of red which didn’t find the mark but we did find a very good Riesling which you don’t find in too many restaurants these days. When it comes to wine, most of the time, we drink a merlot or a blend in red and Riesling in white, it just seems these are very limited in most restaurants I’m not sure why?

Our beet salad was an excellent starter and we both had risottos. My wife’s was made to order which is always a wonderful thing that I think restaurants should do when the ask is not outrageous. I went with the feature which was a duck confit risotto. It was good but, I was perplexed that they elected to put all the duck in pieces in the risotto. It didn’t seem like there was a lot in there. I always feel like you should almost provide the protein on top, so you see the portion size. In both cases however the plates were left empty which means they were good!

Will definitely go back, to the old owners’ thanks for the memories and the good times, for the new owners I know it’s been tough, stay with it, we need good fine dining restaurants in Mississauga. Hopefully you can really make this place your own, and will be with you for the ride. Thanks for an enjoyable evening!
