Best way to describe Sofia’s in Yorkville, Ontario is
upscale dining, upbeat ambiance with posh décor.
As a returning customer, I was fully satisfied with my
experience this time around as I was the first time. Patio was open and took a
quick glance to see what I was missing since a last-minute decision took us
into the main dinning room. Very quaint with some dim lighting and heat
warmers! Beautiful and I’m totally in for next time!
Being a seafood lover, it didn’t take much to convince me
to order the seafood platter for 2 with an extra order of a dozen oysters. Bring
it on! Fresh mussels, oysters, jumbo shrimp, crab… could have easily not shared
this!
Onto my “secondi” and easy choice. The sea bass with caper
leaf and lemon and grilled vegetables please.
One golden rule when dining out. when the food is this good,
you make room for dessert and glad I did! Torta di Castagne..
chestnut mousse, cinnamon crunch with a delightful scoop of sorbet.

Great dining some times comes with a price tag.
When the price tag is high so are my expectations, the décor
inside Sofia’s is spectacular.
The food right on point, the seafood platter, everything immaculately
fresh, you can just taste it!
The oysters big and flavourful.
The pasta, absolutely delicious but when you are paying this
price, an extra scoop certainly wouldn’t have hurt. A bit of a pet peeve of
mine is when you are paying top dollar you should never leave hungry. Make sure
you do right by your carbs, make sure there is enough rice, potato or pasta. I
know the pasta is homemade but don’t skimp.
The dessert, delectable, extremely tasty and didn’t last
long on the plate.
The staff, always accommodating and very friendly.
The atmosphere was good, but not at its usual level, blame
this on Covid. This place is usually electric, we have been here before. Mind
you without Covid finding a table at Sofia’s in the summer is not an easy task.
Love when the piano plays during the night as well, unfortunately not tonight.
Sofia’s is Yorkville, expensive, beautiful, filled with
wonderful people, entertaining and a place to be.
